How Can ASC Therapies Help?

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy specializes in movement, motor development, and body function (eg, strength and endurance). Our physical therapists work with patients and their families to assist each client in reaching their maximum potential to function independently and to promote active participation in home, school, and community environments. Physical therapy also promotes health and wellness as therapists implement a wide variety of support in collaboration with families, communities, and other medical, educational, developmental, and rehabilitation specialists.

Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy works to improve aspects of clients' lives related to communication, feeding, and swallowing. Specifically, clients may work to increase their abilities in areas including: speech intelligibility, language (e.g. understanding, expression, and social skills), fluency, voice hearing, use of alternative/augmentative means of communication, and/or feeding swallowing. We believe that everyone deserves a voice. Individuals who communicate effectively and eat safely are able to engage in meaningful daily interactions.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy utilizes clinical skills and intervention techniques to assist individuals maintain and maximize their independence throughout their daily "occupations". Occupations are tasks that make us unique and help us live a meaningful life. These can include being able to get dressed independently, cook a meal, tie shoes, write legibly, maintain a job, play games with others, and so much more! During OT treatment clients may work on balance training, coordination tasks, fine motor skills, sensory integration, and motor planning.

Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding behavior, how it is affected by the environment, and how learning takes place. ABA methods are used to measure behavior, teach functional skills, and evaluate progress. Various techniques have been developed over the years for increasing constructive behaviors and reducing those that may be harmful or that interfere with learning. ABA uses techniques and principles to discourage socially inappropriate or problematic behaviors and replace them with more acceptable ones. Scientific studies have proven ABA techniques to be one of the most effective methods of treating the behaviors of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). ABA uses a variety of approaches to find a way of motivating the child/individual and ensuring that learning sessions are both enjoyable and productive.
